The Centre of Excellence on Strategic Investment provides strategic advice to Transport Canada’s Minister and Deputy Minister with regards to the most significant projects that the department of Transport undertakes, including public-private partnership, alternative delivery models and commercialization initiatives. The Centre provides strategic financial, governance, procurement advice and works collaboratively with policy and program organizations within Transport Canada and other departments. Recent files where the Centre is playing a key role include the High Frequency Rail project, new programs for airports and financial assistance for the air sector as a result of the COVID pandemic.
This inventory will be used to staff immediate and future EC-06 vacant indeterminate and term positions of various linguistic profiles within Transport Canada. This process will be used to staff positions in three different streams:
Stream 1: Policy Advisor – Generalist
Stream 2: Policy Advisor – Project Management
Stream 3: Policy Advisor – Quantitative Analysis
Current opportunities are located in the National Capital Region, however, remote work from other locations within Canada may be considered.

EDUCATION
ED : Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
*Note: Candidates must always have a university degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. The economic and statistic curriculum normally associated with an MBA is considered an acceptable specialization.
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* experience working on large scale*** investments, projects or procurements.
EX2: Significant* experience in researching and analyzing investment, financial, procurement or economic issues.
EX3: Experience in preparing strategic decision-making documents and making strategic recommendations to senior decision-makers**
EX4: Experience in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
*Significant experience refers to the complexity and diversity of issues handled and the level of autonomy demonstrated, which is normally associated with the performance of duties for at least three (3) years.
** Senior decision-makers refer to individual(s) holding Director General or higher or equivalent position(s).
*** Large scale refers to investments, projects or procurements valued at more than $100M.
