Assessment accommodation

REPOSTING: If you have previously applied to this process, please do not re-apply. Your application has been retained for further review.

Please clearly identify which stream(s) you’re applying for:

STREAM 1: Senior Conservation Coordinator (PC-03)
STREAM 2: Senior Wildlife Biologist (BI-03)

Here’s how the assessment process is expected to go:

STEP 1- APPLY ONLINE

You will first need to create an account, if you don’t already have one;
https://emploisfp-psjobs.cfp-psc.gc.ca/psrs-srfp/applicant/page1710?createNewAccntAftPNS=createNewAccntAftPNS&toggleLanguage=en

Once your account is created, you can create a profile and upload your résumé. You will also need to answer a questionnaire. When answering the questionnaire, please follow the suggested format provided under each question to ensure all the required information is provided. A ''copy and paste'' from your résumé will not be accepted.

The “essential” qualifications identified in the questionnaire are mandatory. Please explain how you meet the essential education and experience qualifications. We can’t make any assumptions about your experience. Simply saying you have the required qualifications or listing your current duties is not enough. The information provided must enable the Selection Board Members to understand HOW (clear explanation of duties), WHEN and for HOW LONG (date and length of time in months or years), and WHERE (employer and geographic location) the experience was acquired.

Your resume may be used to confirm the information provided. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or missing information. A lack of information may result in your application not being considered any further.

STEP 2 – SCREENING THE APPLICATIONS

Your responses to the questionnaire and your résumé will be reviewed to determine if you have the essential education and experience factors described below. Depending on the number of applicants, this process can take some time. Note that asset experience factors are not required for the positions, but they may be used to further assess which candidates are best suited for specific positions.

STEP 3 - FURTHER ASSESSMENT

If you have been screened in through the first stage of the process, you may be invited to complete further assessment steps, which may include an interview, exam and/or reference check.

Once these assessments are complete you will receive confirmation on whether you have qualified to the staffing pool.

A pool may be created and similar PC-03 and BI-03 positions may be staffed through this process with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, acting extensions, assignment, secondment) and/or security requirements (reliability or secret) within Canadian Wildlife Service Branch - Prairie region.

-------------

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are currently working remotely and may be working from different regions or offices.

ONLY APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED ON-LINE USING THE 'APPLY ON-LINE' BUTTON ABOVE WILL BE CONSIDERED.

All communication relating to this process, including email correspondence, may be used in the assessment of qualifications.

Work environment

The Canadian Wildlife Service is a Branch of Environment and Climate Change Canada responsible for leading the implementation of the Department's mandate for nature and for providing national leadership to achieve nature conservation outcomes for wildlife, habitats, and ecosystems. Responsibilities and authorities for conserving nature are shared across jurisdictions, with government and other partners undertaking a range of roles to implement their respective responsibilities. The Canadian Wildlife Service works to: protect and recover species at risk and their critical habitat; conserve and protect healthy populations of migratory birds; engage and enable provinces and territories, Indigenous Peoples, stakeholders, and the public to increase protected areas and contribute to conservation and stewardship activities; expand and manage the Department's protected areas; and collaborate with domestic and international partners to advance the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development.

Staffing for positions via this competition will assist with delivery of core programming as well as new investments recently announced by the Government of Canada.

Two streams are included in this process, with multiple positions being staffed from each stream. Stream 1 is intended to staff current opportunities relating to: species at risk protection coordination and animal care committee chairing; funding and partnerships; forest and grassland conservation; and protected areas. Stream 2 is intended to staff current opportunities related to species at risk recovery. The pool created from this process may be used to fill additional opportunities across Canada, including those related to impact assessment, migratory bird conservation, and other areas of CWS’s mandate. Candidates may apply under more than one stream.

In delivering on this collective commitment, we are determined in our pursuit of excellence through strong leadership, teamwork, innovation and continuous improvement.
