Duties

Human Resources Assistant - Staffing & Labour Relations:

- The Human Resources Assistant, Staffing and Labour Relations, will report to the Supervisor, Client Services.
- The Assistant will provide human resources, administrative and support services in a number of areas of staff management.
- The Assistant will provide assistance, information and administrative advice to managers, candidates and employees on the various staffing processes.
- The Assistant will also need to research information on policies, procedures and human resource programs.
- Finally, the assistant will have to enter data in various human resources and compensation systems such as Peoplesoft, PSRS, PIMS, Phoenix, etc.

Human Resources Assistant - Classification:

- The position of the Human Resources Assistant, Classification, is part of the HR Policy and Programs team.
- The position reports to the Manager, Center of Expertise – Classification and works in collaboration with the Senior Classification HR Advisor.
- The main tasks of this position consists of doing classification data entry in the HR System (HRMS/PeopleSoft), coordinate classification requests, do follow-ups, prepare and update job files, coordinate classification grievances and offer administrative support to the Senior Classification HR Advisor.

Intent of the process

The immediate intention of this process is to staff two (2) specified period (term) position with bilingual imperative BBB/BBB linguistic profile.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within Parole Board of Canada with various linguistic profiles (English or French Essential, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB) and with various tenures (acting appointment, various specified periods, indeterminate).

EDUCATION:

ED1 - A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see note 1).

Note 1: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EXP1 - Experience in providing administrative support services in a client service environment.
EXP2 - Experience in using spreadsheets, word processing and emails such as but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:

AED1 - Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, in a program relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE:

AEXP1 - Experience in the use of a human resources management information system (HRMS) such as but not limited to Peoplesoft, HRIS etc.
AEXP2 - Experience in providing administrative support services in staffing, classification or labour relations.
AEXP3 - Experience in providing administrative support services from any department or agency in the Federal Public Service.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

OP1 - Willing and able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice.
