National Emergency Strategic Stockpile:
As a ENG-04 within PHAC’s NESS Operations team, your role consists of troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing complex engineering issues related to building envelops. This includes developing and reading ACAD drawings for building layouts and HVAC systems, consulting and coordinating with internal stakeholders (NESS Senior Management, Senior Biomed Technologists & Biomed Managers). Some of the duties for your level include:
• Providing operational support to the Manager;
• Strategic thinking for investigation of engineering related issues
• Working independently and managing small groups
• Leading projects from conception to completion
• Performing heating and cooling load calculations
• Develop preventative maintenance programs for equipment
• Leading a group of technicians to follow lean process flows developed by the engineer
Centre of Biosecurity:
As a ENG-04 with the Centre for Biosecurity, your role consists of providing engineering services; including assessments of containment laboratory construction drawings and specifications; participation in regulatory inspections of containment level 2-4 laboratories; providing engineering guidance to laboratories, manufactures and other stakeholders. Some of the duties for your level include:
- Providing operational support to the Manager
- Strategic thinking for investigation of engineering related issues
- Working independently and managing small groups
- Leading projects from conception to completion
- Participate on internal committees and working groups addressing engineering regulatory requirements
- Manages assigned staff and resources
The Public Health Agency of Canada is part of the Health Portfolio of the Government of Canada, committed to help protect the health and safety of all Canadians. The immediate intent is to staff two EN-ENG-04 positions on a temporary basis of one
year, with the possibility of an indeterminate appointment.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Essential Experience:
E1: Experience in general engineering systems including but not limited to;
• Heating Ventilating and Air-Conditioning

• Overall building envelop, design and layout
E2: Experience in performing strategic thinking and analysis of engineering systems and providing functional advice orally and in writing to develop short and long term building system approaches.
E3: Experience with lean processes.
E4: Experience in developing and reading ACAD drawings for building layouts and HVAC systems.
E5: Engineering experience pertaining to project planning, project management and contract administration, or project construction and inspection.
E6: Experience interpreting and applying Canadian and global standards to regulated products or activities.
E7: Experience in the technical review of quality documentation and testing results related to regulated products and activities.
E8: Experience in collaborating with various stakeholders.

Operational Requirements:
