Our immediate need is to fill approximately 10 vacancies. A pool of qualified candidates for current and/or future vacancies will be established. This pool may be used to staff specified term (temporary) or indeterminate (permanent) positions within the Canada Border Services Agency in the Atlantic Region.

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in providing *administrative or clerical support services in a work environment.
• Experience using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Administrative or clerical support services is defined as, but not limited to: managing agendas, scheduling and organizing meetings/teleconferences, preparing and collating meeting file folders and background materials, procuring office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, coordinating travel and/or logistics, in a work environment.

EDUCATION:
• Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives.
Notes:
- Secondary School refers to High School.
- The PSC Test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school is the Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation Test (GSPAT–120).
- The acceptable combination will be evaluated by considering the highest level of education achieved and the depth and breadth of training and/or experience accumulated in customer service and/or in an office setting.
- Equivalencies granted by provincial and/or territorial authorities (e.g. General Education Development (GED), Adult Basic Education (ABE) which is a secondary school equivalent), will be accepted in lieu of a completion of two years of secondary school.
- A degree from a recognized* post-secondary institution will be accepted in lieu of a completion of two years of secondary school.
*A recognized post-secondary institution includes those categorized as “recognized” as well as “authorized” by the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC).

EDUCATION:
• Successful completion of a post-secondary program or certificate from a recognized institution.
• Graduation from a Paralegal and/or Legal Secretary program.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in inputting and extracting financial data using a SAP equivalent financial system.
• Experience in using a budget and/or salary forecasting system.
• Experience responding to inquiries from external vendors regarding issues related to financial transactions.
• Experience in applying processes and procedures regarding hospitality and travel.
• Experience in applying processes and procedures regarding disposal of surplus material (e.g. furniture, vehicle, etc).
• Experience in offering administrative support services in human resources (ex. classification, labour relations, employment equity, official languages, staffing, HR planning, etc.).
• Experience in managing a manager or supervisor’s calendar and email.
• Experience in working with a document repository system.
• Experience working in a law office, court house or similar setting

TESTING AND INTERVIEWS
• A written test will be administered.
• An Interview will be conducted.
• Reference checks will be sought.
SCREENING AND SELECTION
• Candidates must meet all of the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.
• Random selection and/or top-down selection may be used at any time during the process to identify which applicants will be further assessed.
• If you do not fully complete the screening questions as instructed, you will be screened out.
• Only screened in candidates will be contacted for further assessment.
• A candidate may be appointed to the position even though they do not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be used as a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
