The Facility Manager will work out of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research and Development Centres and is responsible for maintaining facilities (including complex laboratory facilities, offices, greenhouses, general maintenance and storage buildings, grounds, designated heritage buildings, assets in satellite locations).
The Facility Manager is responsible for the management and administration of legislative inspections; preventative maintenance programs, facility related work order system; health and safety and security issues and life cycle management practices of building systems and equipment. Facility Manager prepares, implements and/or oversees service contacts and provides input on maintenance budgets including identifying areas for cost or energy reductions and replacement or upgrades.
Position is responsible for overseeing and supervising the work of the facilities team.
The immediate need is to staff one English Essential term position (anticipated length - 8 months) in Summerland, British Columbia with a possibility that this may lead to a permanent position.
If you don’t immediately receive a job offer at AAFC, qualified candidates will also be placed in a talent pool to be used for staffing similar permanent or temporary positions in the future for the locations indicated on this poster. The skill specialization(s), work location, language profile, and security clearance requirements will vary according to the position being staffed.

Education:
• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:
• Significant* experience managing a team (such as managing direct reports, performance evaluations and recruitment).
• Significant* experience maintaining commercial infrastructure, properties or facilities including maintaining building mechanical systems.
• Experience planning, coordinating and/or overseeing professional construction or renovation projects that involve a number of trades.
• Experience planning, scheduling and coordinating the work of service providers responsible for operations and/or maintenance activities.
• Experience in operating computerized building control systems.
*Significant experience is considered to be two (2) years of continuous employment within the last five (5) years.
Asset Qualifications - Education and Professional Certification:
• Certification or degree with respect to mechanical building systems and / or controls.
• Relevant provincial trade certification and / or red seal certification in a recognized relevant trade.
Asset Qualifications - Experience:
•Experience with Delta or ESC Building Management systems.
•Experience providing facility management services in any of the following: scientific research environment, government building, large medical facility, large commercial building, or large industrial building.
•Experience in managing third party contracts.
