Work environment

The Willow Cree Healing Lodge is situated about 65 kilometers southwest of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on the Beardy's and Okemasis First Nation. The Willow Cree Healing Lodge is a minimum level Indigenous male facility.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to permanently staff the Supplies and Services Officer position at Willow Cree Healing Lodge. A pool of candidates for other anticipated vacancies will also be established.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or successful completion of a provincially / territorially approved secondary school equivalency test, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience using computer programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and electronic mail.
Experience in shipping and receiving, or warehousing, or storage and control of material.

Knowledge of shipping, receiving, issuing, storing, and inventory control of stock.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of a current transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate.
Possession of valid Forklift Operator certificate.
Possession of a valid Workplace Hazardous Material information System (WHMIS) certificate.
Possession of a valid First aid and CPR certificate.
Possession of current Fall Arrest certification.
Possession of current Aerial Platform Work certification.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in supervising, evaluating and motivating individuals.
Experience in ordering, warehousing and dispensing services and commodities such as; clothing, bedding, linens, personal grooming items, household and janitorial supplies, furnishings and housekeeping equipment.
Experience in the handling and storage of dangerous goods.
Experience in the operation of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, trucks, and delivery vehicles.
Experience in operation of a commercial laundry (washers, dryers, clothing presses)
Experience in commercial sewing equipment
Experience in commercial or general housekeeping techniques including the operation and maintenance of housekeeping equipment such as automatic floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, floor polishers, burnishers, etc.
Experience in the proper techniques and methods to clean up bodily fluids, biohazard spills, or other hazardous materials
Experience in a point of sale system (Cashiering)
Experience working for Correctional Service of Canada

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations

ABILITY
Ability to Speak an Aboriginal Language (example Cree)

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

Compliance with Memorandum of Understanding/Agreements with Healing Lodges (particularly, members of First Nations bands specified in the Memorandum of Understanding/Agreements)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to work occasional short-notice overtime during emergencies includes late nights and weekends
Must be willing to work with, instruct and supervise inmates
Must be willing to be part of the Hazardous Material Clean-up Team (in some or all institutions).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Prior to appointment, candidate must possess a valid unrestricted driver's licence that conforms to provincial or territorial requirements. As a condition of employment, candidate must maintain valid unrestricted driver's licence throughout employment.

Must be willing and able to lift, carry and shelve goods weighing up to 20 kg repeatedly throughout the day
