The main duties of this position include, but are not limited to, reviewing and editing text in French and English to ensure consistency with Agency style and syntax. In addition, the position advises clients on changes and recommendations regarding French language usage and works towards the best end product. Completion of short translations from English to French are also required.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Agency has embraced working remotely. All FedDev Ontario employees are currently working remotely, full time. Following a return to the workplace, it is likely that some form of remote work will continue. We also offer flexible work arrangements such as a compressed workweek. This would need to be discussed with your supervisor and agreed upon jointly.
A pool may be established as a result of this process and may be used to fill similar positions with various tenures to staff full-time and part-time positions for a specific period (term, acting), indeterminate (permanent), or casual basis with various language requirements and security profiles within the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
NOTES:
1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
2. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
Experience:
EX1: Experience writing, proofreading and revising* communications products in French.
EX2: Experience advising clients regarding changes to their documents and providing guidance on writing style and language usage.
EX3: Experience using word processing or other software programs to deliver editing services (i.e., Microsoft Word, Google Docs, etc.).
* Revising is defined as reviewing and correcting texts written in or translated into French, and performing comparative revision to ensure that the content of text translated into French accurately reflects the English version.
Bilingual - Imperative (CCB/PPC)
NOTE:
Code P is required for reading and writing in French. Second Language Evaluation tests prescribed by the Public Service Commission are not used to evaluate skills requiring the use of code P. The hiring manager is responsible for assessing code P.
Reading and writing in French requiring code P refers to the following technical or specialized language skills:
• Proofreading French texts and correcting spelling, grammar and punctuation errors.
• Providing French editing services for technical or specialized texts, documents and publications.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to clearly outline that they meet each of the screening criteria (i.e., Education and Experience Qualifications, both Essential and Assets) by responding to the screening questions in the online application using specific examples and by providing additional detail in their résumé. Top down and/or random selection may be used during any stage of the selection process.
