Duties

Stream 1: Document and Systems Control Officer
This position conducts administrative activities in support of the regional Safety and Security team, for the Canadian Coast Guard in Western region. Oversees document control for the Safety Management System, which is comprised of the policies, processes and procedures that have been developed to ensure a safe and secure working environment.

Stream 2: Strategic Services Business Analyst
This position resides within the Strategic Services Unit (SSU) under the Integrated Business Management Services (IBMS) program of the Canadian Coast Guard. This position supports the senior analyst with event coordination and planning, maintaining a promotional items inventory, supporting event logistics, and liaising with event coordinators and CCG program managers.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and /or 2 years of related experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience researching, compiling, analyzing, and summarizing relevant data and information from internal and/or external sources.
Experience in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external clients
Experience using software at an intermediate or advanced level such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer
Experience in the maintenance of a comprehensive documents database in electronic and/or paper formats such as MS Access, GC Docs or other relevant databases (not Excel)

Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a diploma or certificate in a relevant field.

Stream 1 and 2:
Experience in contributing to the planning, monitoring, and reporting on activities related to operations, programs, corporate business or projects.

Willing and able to travel air, land, or by sea
Willing and able to work overtime, often on short notice
Able to handle and lift heavy (approx. 14kg) totes/boxes for shipping

Stream 1:
Experience working on a Canadian Coast Guard vessel or at a Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue station
Experience using a financial management system
Experience with ABB (Activity Based Budgeting)

Knowledge of the Canadian Coast Guard Safety Management System, such as safety manuals, site specific work instructions, audits, non-compliance reports, or incident investigation reports

Stream 2:
Experience in planning or coordinating meetings, committees and events
Experience in working with procurement processes, or grants and contributions administration and contributing to high level correspondence
Experience working with Canadian Coast Guard services or programs
Experience in expenditure management and reporting

Conditions of employment
