This Grain Inspector position will be responsible for: Grading Harvest Sample Program and breeder samples, preparing samples for research projects, working within the Inspection Standards unit to support the grading system and participate in the modernization of the grading system (including standards prints and the Official Grain Grading Guide).
This process will be used to staff one (1) full-time indeterminate position in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
This process will be used for this position only. Qualifying on this process does not confirm that a candidate has met the requirements of the PI-CGC-03 Shipping Inspector.

Your résumé.
Education:
• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Experience:
• Recent and significant grain grading experience.
Recent is defined as experience approximately acquired within the last two (2) years.
Significant is defined as:
1. The depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related grain inspection activities.
2. More than 2 years of grain grading experience with a grain company, private inspection company or as a Grain Inspector with the Canadian Grain Commission.
Education:
• A degree, applied degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution (e.g. college, CEGEP, university) in a related field.
Experience:
• Experience in the operation of grain elevators and their sampling systems
• Experience organizing and conducting meetings.
• Experience leading a project team and/or committee.
• Significant experience with the use of standard business related computer software applications (word processing, spreadsheet and database).

Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
• Proficient knowledge of the Canadian Grain Commission, its structure and policies.
• Proficient knowledge of the Canada Grain Act and Canada Grain Regulations.
• Operational knowledge of the Official Grain Grading Guide and the effects of grading factors on end uses quality of cereal grains, oilseeds, and pulses.

Ability:
• Ability to grade all (20) grains as defined by the Canada Grain Regulations at the proficient level.
Operational Requirements:
• Ability and willingness to be exposed to grain dust / soil, and to outdoor conditions in an industrial environment. Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication, and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain, in good standing, the appropriate security level clearance for access to any work related site.
• Ability and willingness to lift grain samples (up to 20 kg), to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, as required.
• Ability and willingness to travel, as required, including on short notice.
• Ability and willingness to work in and around moving equipment in an indoor/outdoor industrial environment.
Reliability Status security clearance
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain, in good standing, the appropriate security level clearance for access to any work related site.
• Valid drivers' license OR personal mobility in the time and manner normally associated with possession and use of a valid driver's license.
• Ability and willingness to lift grain samples (up to 20 kg), to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Ability and willingness to be exposed to grain dust / soil, and to outdoor conditions in an industrial environment. Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication, and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, as required.
• Ability and willingness to travel, as required, including on short notice.
