The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 different types of civilian career opportunities. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. This process will be used to staff indeterminate (permanent) positions in the following locations: Borden, Edmonton, Esquimalt, Gagetown, Greenwood, Petawawa, Shilo, St-Jean, Valcartier.
Meanwhile, a pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff others positions. This pool could be used to fill similar positions within the Department of National Defense with various language proficiencies.

Your résumé.
Education:
• Graduation with an Occupational Therapy (OT) degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Experience:
• Significant* experience working as an occupational therapist with an adult population.
• Experience working with an adult population in an outpatient and/or community physical rehabilitation setting.
• Experience in using outcome-measures tools to assess impairments, disabilities, and functional performance.
• Experience working in a collaborative/inter-disciplinary clinical practice.
• Experience developing and adapting treatment plans for patients with physical, cognitive and/or psycho-emotional factors.
• Experience in rehabilitative services provided to adults, including diagnosis of musculoskeletal, chronic pain, neurological and complex injuries such as traumatic brain injuries, polytraumas and mental health challenges.
*Significant is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities in an adult physical rehabilitative environment which would normally be acquired over a period of approximately 2 years which are obtained in a clinical setting.

Occupational Therapy Certification:
• Eligibility for registration as a registered Occupational Therapist in a province or territory of Canada.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of evidence-based rehabilitation practice outcome-measures such as disability questionnaires, tools to measure function and performance indicators for an adult population.
Abilities:

ASSET EDUCATION
Certification and education:
• Certification (or some courses completed) in return to work and job demands.
• Certification (or some courses completed) in standardized physical and/or cognitive assessment tools.
• Certification (or some courses completed) in hand therapy and orthotics.
• Certification (or some courses completed) in trauma-informed care and mental health.
• Certification (or some courses completed) in ergonomics.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working with the Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS).
• Experience with creating, monitoring and adapting return to work plan for patients.
• Experience working with rehabilitation complex cases such as severely injured patients or polytraumas such as amputations, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord lesions, etc.
Organizational needs:

• Continuous registration, in good standing, with the provincial regulatory body responsible for regulating the profession of occupational therapy in which employment is maintained.
