The job consists of being the Team Leader of 3 building technicians’ team in a forest research facility belonging to Natural Resources Canada at University Laval in Québec city. The candidate will be performing supervision (team coordination, task distribution, granting vacations and sick leave, performance management, etc.) He will be acting under the supervision of the Head, regional property and Facility management Services. He will be the reference on building mechanics topics and questions, so he must possess extensive knowledge in building mechanics others than his. Worktime is expected to be divided approximately 60% administrative work, 40% on the floor, performing mechanical tasks, doing verifications, etc. To give an indication, this job with supervisory bonuses, availability time on rotation and overtime (rare) represents a salary envelope over 85 000$. If you hold a refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic certificate, an annual $8,480 is added. We are targeting October 15th or earlier as an entry date. The candidate will be selected based on his/her technical abilities, interpersonal skills and work ethic.
The intent of this selection process is to fill one position for a determinate period of 2 years with the possibility of renewal.
A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada (with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Technical studies diploma in a field related to the position, such as building mechanicals, electricity, instrumentation or control technology.
EX1. Recent* and significant** experience in the operation and maintenance of institutional, commercial or industrial building of more than 5 000 m².
EX2. Experience in two of the following fields: plumbing, electricity or building mechanicals related to building operation and maintenance.
EX3. Experience of 2 years or more in the complete supervision of a team of more than 2 or more employees.
EX4. Experience in installing, maintaining or repairing equipment and building systems in at least four of the following areas: building system controls; steam heating systems; fire alarm systems; compressors; pumps; ventilation; air conditioning and/or refrigeration systems; and generators.
*Recent experience : Five years of continuous experience acquired in the past eight years
**Significant experience: Experience in carrying out a variety of tasks of varying complexity
Diploma from a recognized college or institute offering a program (minimum of two years) in building maintenance.
Valid journeyman’s certificate recognized by the Commission de construction du Québec (CCQ) in one of the following areas of competency: electricity, plumbing, control mechanisms, air conditioning, refrigeration or other related field deemed to be relevant.
AEx1: Experience in the regular use of a computerized preventive maintenance system, such as including action request entry, error correction and report production.
AEx2: Experience in plumbing, electricity or building mechanicals related to the operation and maintenance of a laboratory or scientific environment.
AEx3: Experience in the use of direct digital command (DDC) systems.

A candidate may be appointed to the position even though they do not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.
