With over 15,000 employees working across Canada the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is Canada's second largest law enforcement organization, working 24/7 to protect Canada's borders by preventing high-risk people and goods from crossing into Canada while facilitating legitimate trade and travel. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is currently hiring clerical and/or administrative employees for the Southern Ontario Region .
The immediate need is to staff ten (10) positions. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within the Southern Ontario Region.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
Notes:
1.The employer-approved alternatives to two years of secondary school are:
◦A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
◦An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience providing client service, OR clerical or administrative support services including, but not limited to, cashier duties, purchasing office supplies, receiving goods, entering data, managing correspondence, archiving documents, etc.
• Experience using ALL of the following software :
(i) Word processing software, such as Microsoft Word.
(ii) Spreadsheet application software, such as Microsoft Excel.
(iii) E-mail, such as Microsoft Outlook.
EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Successful completion of the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working with the Systems Applications Products (SAP).
• Experience providing accounting or financial support services.
• Experience providing administrative support services to senior management.
• Experience organizing meetings, teleconferences, videoconferences, information sessions or events.
• Experience using an electronic filing system.
• Experience with cash or cashier handling duties.
• Experience working in Human Resources.
• Experience processing import or export documentation.
• Experience working in an enforcement or security organization.
• Experience providing mailroom support services (e.g. pick-up, delivery and sorting of mail, messenger services).

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

When answering the screening questions, remember that the assessment board cannot make assumptions about your Education and Experience. It is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current or past responsibilities. Rather, you must provide concrete examples with significant details to explain WHEN, WHERE and HOW you acquired each qualification. This is similar to what would be expected of you when asked to provide a concrete example of a particular situation in the context of an interview.
Candidates must also submit a resume with their application, which will only be used to validate the information provided in their answers to the screening questions.
Should your responses to the screening questions contain insufficient details to demonstrate that you meet the screening criteria, your application will not be given further consideration in this process. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or possible missing information.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
