Some of the duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Inspect constructed works on a daily basis for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Review contractor and consultant submissions such as, but not limited to, shop drawings and product data sheets, meeting minutes and records of decisions, schedules, etc. for conformance to plans and specification.
• Participate in construction coordination and progress meetings. Conduct site coordination activities to facilitate construction progress and support health and safety measures.
Primarily outdoor and indoor construction site based. Most activities will require active (i.e. standing, walking), on site observation, documenting, and meetings.
A temporary seated work station area with desk and laptop and typical office supplies will be assigned.
The intent of this process is to fill the position temporarily for a period of 2 years with the possibility of extension.
If you don’t immediately receive a job offer at AAFC, qualified candidates will also be placed in a talent pool to be used for staffing similar permanent or temporary positions in the future. The skill specialization(s), work/position location, language profile, and security clearance requirements will vary according to the position being staffed.

Education
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Occupational Certification
• Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position
Experience
• Experience in providing technical engineering advice or input on construction related projects.
• Experience preparing project proposals, work plans, financial reports, budget estimates, site inspection reports, or progress reports;
• Experience in working with consultants and contractors in construction or specialized engineering disciplines relevant to the position.
Asset Qualifications - Experience
• Experience in serving as the Clerk of Works role for construction projects.
• Experience with major renovation projects of buildings.
