Duties

Real Property, Safety & Security (RPSS) is one of three real property custodians within Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) administering the majority of DFO real property assets, including office and special purpose buildings, such as Canadian Coast Guard bases, light stations, hatcheries, laboratories and a number of smaller facilities. The availability of these facilities, along with Public Services and Procurement Canada-provided leased inventory, are crucial for departmental sectors to deliver their mandated programs.

The branch provides leadership and expertise in real property planning, strategic investment, divestiture, infrastructure life cycle management, facilities maintenance, environmental management, and employee safety and security advisory services. Regardless of the position to be staffed, we are looking for self-starters who are passionate about service excellence and eager to assist our clients in meeting their objectives.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory selection process. Results from this selection process may be used to staff temporary or permanent AS-01 positions in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

EDUCATION
- Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
Note: Experience relevant to the position would be defined as would be at least one (1) year of experience directly related to the essential experience requirements. Training relevant to the position would be defined as any formal training from a recognized post-secondary institution, or professional organization directly related to the key duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Experience providing financial management services such as budget forecasting, analysis, and reporting
- Experience creating contracts and issuing purchase orders
- Experience providing administrative support services to a team or a manager
- *Experience using spreadsheet, word processing and email software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or similar software (* Note: Candidates must clearly demonstrate their experience by providing details on the functions used (e.g. development of spreadsheets, creating reports, entering and editing data, formatting, importing data, creating tables, drafting letters, using various formulas, creating pivot tables, etc.))
