WD’s Western Canada Growth Strategy team is looking for individuals with strong business development backgrounds. You will conduct industry and partner outreach to connect western firms with large-scale projects to federal programs. In turn, you will provide advice to WD and our federal partners on what opportunities they should focus on and firms they need to engage.

The intent of this process is to fill one position immediately for a two year term.
A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) will also be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level. This process may be used for various positions and tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual) as well as various locations, security requirements, language requirements and conditions of employment. The pool of qualified candidates may also be shared and accessed with other federal government departments.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
Experience:
• Building strong relationships with senior officials in western Canada’s heavy industries
• Conducting pathfinding for large-scale industry projects
• Coordinating engagement between industry and government

• Heavy industries in western Canada (e.g., oil and gas, petro-chemical manufacturing)
• Industrial decarbonization technologies (e.g., carbon capture, storage, and utlization)
• Federal, provincial, and non-governmental programs that support industry innovation and sustainability

Depth or breadth of experience in any one or combination of these factors:
• Developing large-scale industry projects
