The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) permanent, full-time position in Saskatoon SK, Vancouver BC or Yellowknife NT. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar full-time or part-time positions within Environment and Climate Change Canada in Saskatoon SK, Vancouver BC, Yellowknife NT, Winnipeg MB, Burlington ON or Montreal QC, with various tenures (permanent or temporary), various security levels and various language requirements which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry, environmental science, biology or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
EXPERIENCE
E1. Experience in synthesizing and communicating complex data and information related to aquatic ecosystem science
E2. Significant* experience in freshwater (e.g. stream/wetland/lake) biological monitoring
E3. Experience in liaising and working collaboratively with internal partners and with external organizations such as non-government organizations, indigenous groups, academia or industry on environmental programs
(* "Significant" is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related activities for a period of approximately two (2) years.)
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in environmental science, biology or aquatic ecology
AsE1. Experience in the use of common and current applications for Geographical Information Systems(GIS)
AsE2. Experience in the use of multivariate statistical analyses of water quality or biological data
AsE3. Experience collecting, analyzing and interpreting environmental genetic data
AsE4. Experience in community based monitoring and/or indigenous engagement with a focus providing training and advice on field data collection and/or implementation of environmental monitoring activities and/or guidance on study design or data interpretation.
AsE5. Experience with the R language statistical computing and graphics package.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to work in remote locations, outdoors, in potentially harsh conditions over in rugged terrain for extended periods (up to 4 weeks).
