Duties

The Manager of Supervision provides leadership, technical guidance and support to the day-to-day management of supervisory and monitoring work delivered in accordance with FCAC’s mandate to ensure compliance of market conduct obligations by all federally regulated financial entities (entities), including Payment Card Network Operators (PCNOs) and External Complaint Bodies (ECBs). In carrying out these responsibilities, the Manager ensures the consistent application of FCAC’s Supervision Framework; the consistent interpretation and application of policies and procedures; the monitoring of practices and processes to identify important and emerging compliance-related issues; and the implementation of best practices from an operational perspective. The Manager also participates in the development of the broader supervision, promotion and enforcement strategic direction and establishment of priority activities.

Work environment

Located in downtown Ottawa, with an office in Toronto, and fully equipped to work virtually, FCAC is a small separate agency established by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada Act and subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). Education:
Degree from a recognized university in commerce, business administration, law or economics, or an acceptable combination of a university degree and experience relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Significant* experience establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with multiple stakeholders;
• Recent** and significant* experience providing strategic advice and briefings to senior officials;
• Recent** and significant* experience in conducting investigations, audits or examinations in a regulatory environment; and,
• Experience leading and developing employees.

NOTE:
*Significant will be evaluated in terms of depth and breadth of activities, complexity and diversity of work performed, and level of autonomy in dealing with these issues normally associated with having performed such activities over the course of approximately 3 years. Please demonstrate clearly your roles and responsibilities pertaining to this experience.
**Recent experience is defined as having acquired the experience within the last 3 years.

Asset Qualfiications:
