1. Reviews and evaluates Environmental Review Form (ERF) applications for proposed oil and gas projects, coordinates the evaluation with First Nation, company, and environmental consultant representatives, carries out site visits for all stages of site development, prepares written evaluation, identifies mitigation measures and terms, and recommends application approval, modification or rejection.
2. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with First Nation representatives including Chief and Councils, industry leads, environmental consultants, and other provincial and federal regulators through regular correspondence, meetings, industry-regulator working groups, and presentations.
3. Assesses, promotes, and manages environmental compliance through the review and approval of environmental audits, maintenance of compliance databases, and by undertaking independent (IOGC-First Nation) and provincial, First Nation and IOGC site inspections.
4. Provides expert advice with compliance and enforcement action and direction to ensure companies are meeting regulatory requirements.
5. Reviews, evaluates, and approves Remediation Action Plans (RAP) in coordination with the First Nation Chief and Council, company, and environmental consultant, and ensures compliance with RAP commitments and approach.
IOGC is an organization committed to managing and regulating oil and gas resources on First Nation reserve lands. It is a non-unionized special operating agency within Indigenous Services Canada. IOGC is responsible for the administration of oil and gas resources on First Nation reserve lands across Canada, primarily south of the 60th parallel. Most of IOGC's work is in Western Canada in the area of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
Full-time one year term positions. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar term and/or indeterminate positions.

EDUCATION:
1. A post-secondary science degree from a recognized University with specialization in environmental sciences, biological sciences, forestry, wildlife, agriculture, chemistry, conservation & enforcement, or other specialization relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
1. Experience in environmental management of oil and gas activities in Canada.
2. Experience in compliance, remediation and/or reclamation of oil and gas activities.
