Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff one position, on a temporary basis for 1 year with the possibility of extension. Should the position become available on a permanent basis, it would be located in Thunder Bay.

An anticipatory pool of candidates will be created should similar positions within FedNor across Northern Ontario with various language requirements and various tenures be needed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
- Degree from a recognized university in communications, public relations or a specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

NOTE:
1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.

2. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in planning and implementing events for elected officials and/or senior management.
- Experience in coordinating communications projects.
- Experience in providing strategic communications advice to client groups and senior management.
- Experience in writing and revising a range of communications products such as media advisories, news releases, backgrounders, speeches, articles, event scenario notes, and/or social media.

- Knowledge of current trends and developments in communication methods and practices
- Knowledge of social media tools, web communications trends and best practices, and/or emerging technologies and their potential uses in internal and external communications.
