Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff 1 position on an indeterminate basis at Coast Guard Base at Victoria, BC.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established. The pool may be used to staff positions with similar qualifications within the Pacific Region in various locations and/or tenures including term appointments, indeterminate appointments, acting appointments, assignments and/or casuals.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education and Certification
•A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (See Note).
•Certification as a 4th Class Stationary Engineer or Plumbing / Mechanical Certification.

Note: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience
• Experience working in support of large industrial or institutional facility operations and maintenance.
• Experience performing inspections and keeping records.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Experience working with DDC system in support of facility operations and maintenance at complex laboratory facilities or industrial sites.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Willing to respond to emergency calls outside normal working hours.
