This is a full-time indeterminate position in Moncton, N.B. The anticipated number of position(s) that may be staffed with this advertised process is one (1); however, a pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Moncton, NB.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Natural or Biological Sciences with a specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position such as Statistics, Population Dynamics, Stock / population Assessment, Ecology and-or Ichthyology.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2 years of experience conducting scientific work in wildlife population science, ecology, environmental science or biodiversity science. (Graduation from a recognized post-graduate program in these areas may be accepted as work experience)
- *Significant experience in wildlife population statistics or modelling
- Experience in coordinating science projects, science programs or research
- Experience in writing technical documents, scientific articles or reports
- Experience in supervising science staff or coordinating a science team
- Experience in developing, and maintaining electronic databases
* Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed activities which are normally acquired over a minimum period of one (1) year.

EXPERIENCE (asset)
- **Experience in fisheries science, ecology or fish population modelling
- Experience establishing relationships, consulting, engaging, or negotiating with external partners (first nation community, industry, independent associations etc.)
- Experience in coordinating working teams including several representatives from various organizations
- Experience working at sea on small or large vessels
- Experience in development and preparation of methodology for analysis of biological samples
- Experience developing and providing science-based advice for decision-making purposes
- Experience in managing financial and material resources
- Experience in the preparation of scientific research proposals
- Experience in research on fish or crustacean biology
- Experience in peer reviewed science for primary publications and reports
- Experience in conducting scientific risk assessments with ecological or environmental protection objectives
**Note: The term ‘fish’ includes fish, crustaceans, mollusks, marine mammals and marine turtles.
