The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) is Canada's largest independent administrative tribunal. It is responsible for making well-reasoned decisions on immigration and refugee matters, efficiently, fairly and in accordance with the law. The IRB decides, among other responsibilities, who needs refugee protection among the thousands of claimants who come to Canada annually.

The immediate need is to staff one position on a temporary basis. Other positions could be staffed from this process at a later date.
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates will be created and will be used to staff similar or identical positions with various security profiles, tenures and conditions of employment within the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

Education:
Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives*

o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
Experience* providing client service.

In order to ensure placement of IRB employees affected by Workforce Adjustment (WFA), we are asking all affected employees who are interested in this position to apply. This position requires fluency in Canada's two official languages (English and French) in reading comprehension, written expression and oral language at the BBB level. Candidates may be officially tested on their language abilities early in this selection process.

Qualifications for this selection process may be assessed and/or validated throughout the selection process effective from the time you submit your application. This includes any correspondence (written or oral) with Human Resources and Management.
You will be assessed using one or more of the following tools: written exam, interview, reference check, other.
Scheduling of alternative assessment dates will only be considered for the following reasons with proof provided:
o Religious reasons;
o Death in the family;
o Medical reasons;
o Pre-approved leave;
o Conflicting exams; or
o Other exceptional circumstances.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
