EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in managing national projects or programs in a highly networked environment
- Experience in leading consultations, negotiations and building collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, including senior officials from other federal departments, provincial or territorial governments, academia and Indigenous organizations
- Experience in leading and managing complex issues requiring inter-departmental and inter-governmental collaboration and negotiations
- Experience in providing strategic advice, making recommendations, and writing and presenting briefing material to senior management on complex issues
- Significant experience in managing human resources
- Significant experience in managing financial resources
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of key challenges and opportunities affecting the competitiveness and sustainability of Canada's forest sector
- Knowledge of the key current and potential collaborations that influence and deliver science and technology innovation priorities in the forest sector, including the role of government, forest sector firms, academia and Indigenous partners within Canada and abroad
- Knowledge of overall government priorities and decision-making processes, particularly as they relate to Canada's natural resources, and the influence on advancing innovative science and technologies
- Knowledge of the federal government's role and Natural Resources Canada's mandate on issues that impact the competitiveness of Canada's forest sector, as well as the science required to keep the sector competitive
