Assessment accommodation

This process will be used to staff positions at the EG-04, EG-05 and EG-06 levels.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions with various tenures at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada in St. John’s, NL.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

ED1: Graduation from a recognized technical institution with a two (2) year diploma (at minimum) in construction management, civil, survey, architectural technology or another related building technology.
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

EX1: Experience in project management, including the renovation of existing facilities and/or construction of new facilities. For each level, we are asking for the following length of time in experience:
a. EG-04 Minimum of 1 year experience
b. EG-05 Minimum of 2 years’ experience
c. EG-06 minimum of 3 years’ experience

EX2: Experience using programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

EX3: Experience providing operational, technical and maintenance advice to senior management, stakeholders, and/or clients, on projects and/or building management systems

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Education:
AED1: Graduation with a certificate or diploma in Project Management from a recognized post-secondary institution.
AED2: Designation as a Professional Technologist (P Tech) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
AEX1: Experience applying mitigation measures related to environmental assessments in construction projects.
AEX2: Experience using AutoCAD
AEX3: Experience managing federal real property projects
AEX4: Experience in supervision
AEX5: Experience using Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
AEX6: Experience in preventative maintenance practices as they apply to the operation of buildings (ex. plumbing, electrical, HVAC, life safety systems and building envelope).

AB4: Ability to negotiate and resolve disagreements between project stakeholders and/or contract disputes

Conditions of employment

1. Valid driver’s license
2. Reliability status security clearance
3. Travel, including travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation, including but not limited to boats, helicopters or all-terrain vehicles.
4. Climb ladders, work at heights and in confined spaces
5. Work overtime often on short notice, as required
6. Wear Personal Protective equipment

Salary for EG-04 - $63,720- $77,523 per year.
Salary for EG-05 - $70,088- $85,272 per year.
Salary for EG-06 - $77,098- $93,799 per year.

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
