Something exciting is happening in BC! We are creating a new Regional Development Agency (RDA) in British Columbia. Western Economic Diversification Canada has served the West for over 30 years, but as a result of the most recent budget, a new RDA is being created that will be focused solely on economic development in BC.
Creating a new agency is no small task and one of the immediate steps will be migrating the web content from Western Economic Diversification Canada’s to the new BC-focused RDA.
The position being filled will support the development of the creation of a BC-focused Regional Development Agency (RDA). The candidate will need to create the new BC-focused agency website directly on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), manually migrating approximately 100 pages in both official languages (200 in total) from Western Economic Diversification Canada’s site.
A topic tree will be provided to guide the website’s development, based on the WD website structure.
About WD:
WD is an RDA that makes strategic investments to grow the western economy with a focus on business development, innovation and community development. More recently, our department has also played a key role in helping the Government of Canada take action to support Canadians and businesses facing hardship as a result of COVID-19 by implementing the Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF). The new BC RDA will continue to focus on economic growth and supporting businesses, but with an exclusive focus on BC.
Please note: As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working remotely for the time being. Interviews and related assessments will be conducted virtually throughout this staffing process. Please ensure you have a reliable internet connection and access. If you are appointed to a position, WD will provide tools and/or equipment to support remote work. There may be an opportunity to visit an office subject to public health recommendations. As public health restrictions ease, the successful candidate will be expected to report to an office location.
WD offices are open environments with well-regulated air quality, ergonomic sit- stand workstations, and a combination of natural and fluorescent lighting. The physical demands of this position include spending a significant amount of screen time on a computer or equivalent, as well as reading documents in digital and/or print media. This role will also involve meeting with stakeholders virtually by video or telephone, and in-person as COVID-19 public health measures allow. This position also involves sitting or standing at a workstation.
The intent of this anticipatory process is to staff one (1) temporary position until March 31, 2022 with the possibility of extension. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments, casual work assignments, etc.). The pool may be used for positions in various locations, with various security requirements, language requirements and conditions of employment. The pool of qualified candidates may also be shared with other federal government departments.
