Establishes strategies for the promotion of AAFC research and technologies to industry, producer lead research organizations, provincial governments and agencies. Leads and supervises a regional team of Commercialization Officers assigned to different files in the portfolio and located in different locations. Works in cooperation with AAFC science management to negotiate or resolve Intellectual Property matters or collaboration issues with other parties. Works with AAFC management in the development of Intellectual Property strategies and risk assessment for science teams and programs.

The process will be used to staff one (1) full time permanent team leader position in the Atlantic Quebec Regional Team within the Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization. The selection of candidate will be made based on the best fit candidate specific to the team, the task and the work environment.
A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, as well as various linguistic requirements

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in agriculture, science, marketing, commerce, law or business administration.

EXPERIENCE
- Significant experience* in planning and conducting activities related to the management of intellectual property assets pertaining to a portfolio of technologies protected by trade secrets, patents or plant breeders’ rights.
- Significant experience* in the negotiation of research and development contracts with external partners .
- Experience in providing written briefing materials on strategic advices for senior management on matters related to the management of intellectual property or collaborative research.
- Relevant experience** in leading and supervising staff.
*Significant experience is defined as experience normally accumulated from undertaking relevant tasks for a minimum of 2 years.
**Relevant experience is defined as experience normally associated with supervision tasks such as defining work objectives, assessing yearly performance and identifying training needs for individuals and for the work unit.

EDUCATION
Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in commerce, science, engineering, business administration or law.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in the management of a portfolio of IP assets pertaining to agriculture sciences and products such as crops, environment and animal technologies, biotechnologies and value added products.
