Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process to staff several ENG-05 positions.

A pool of qualified candidates may also be established through this process to staff similar ENG-05 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience forming partnerships, working in or leading networks, or engaging in collaborative activities with stakeholders related to innovative energy technologies.

Recent* and significant** experience leading or coordinating energy research and development (R&D) or demonstration projects or programs that focus on energy technologies in one or more of the following areas:
• Carbon, Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS);
• Oil production, storage and distribution;
• Natural gas production, storage and distribution;
• Low carbon fuels; and/or
• Industrial energy efficiency or fuel switching.

Significant** experience in analysis of developments, trends and technologies, and providing policy, program or technology written and verbal briefings and recommendations to executive audiences (Director or higher) and stakeholders on subjects related to energy, climate change or clean technology.

Experience in coordinating and leading the technical review of clean energy projects or proposals, or preparation of technical proposals and reports related to one or more of the following areas:
• Carbon, Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS);
• Oil production, storage and distribution;
• Natural gas production, storage and distribution;
• Low carbon fuels; and/or
• Industrial energy efficiency or fuel switching.

Significant** experience in conducting engineering and/or research projects or carrying out the technical review of clean energy projects or proposals, or preparation of technical proposals and reports related to one or more of the following areas:
• Carbon, Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS);
• Oil production, storage and distribution;
• Natural gas production, storage and distribution;
• Low carbon fuels; and/or
• Industrial energy efficiency or fuel switching.

*Recent is defined as experience acquired in the last 5 years.
** Significant is defined as experience over at least three consecutive years.

Experience in managing one or more scientific and/or technical staff.

Recent* experience in the negotiation and management of transfer payment agreements.

*Recent is defined as experience acquired in the last 5 years.
