Intent of the process

The intent of this advertisement is to create an inventory of professionals. We want to attract top talent to fill current and future vacancies. The inventory may be used to fill a wide range of positions with various tenures and/or linguistic requirements within Global Affairs Canada.

IMPORTANT: Full-time teleworking from a home located in a city other than Gatineau or Ottawa may be considered as an option.

EDUCATION:

ED1 - A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Note: Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EX1: Significant** experience in writing various communications products targeted to a wide audience (news releases, media lines/responses, articles for a corporate newsletter, web content, social media products, promotional material, speeches or speaking notes, etc.);
EX2: Significant** experience in developing and implementing communications strategies or activities in support of major initiatives;
EX3: Significant** experience in providing communications advice to senior management*** and various stakeholders.

**Significant experience is defined as the breadth and depth of experience normally associated with performance of duties for approximately five (5) years or more.

***Senior management is defined as director and above.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE
AEX1 - Experience in anticipating sensitive issues related to communications and interpreting their impact on an organization.
AEX2 - Experience in managing staff.
AEX3 - Experience in internal communications.
AEX4 - Experience in media relations.
AEX5 – Experience working in or providing services to a Minister, Deputy Minister or Assistant Deputy Minister’s office.
AEX6 - Experience in managing events.
AEX7 - Experience in coordinating communications and engagement activities.
AEX8 - Experience in the development of communications plans or strategies on corporate files or major corporate issues.
AEX9 - Experience in the application of the various policies and norms related to Government of Canada communications and federal identity.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

- Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice;
- Willingness and ability to travel.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - Reliability clearance may be accepted for a fixed duration while a secret clearance is being processed.
