Assessment accommodation

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

The inventory will be updated every 90 days. You will receive a notice in your applicant account 15 days before the end of your active period to determine whether or not you wish to keep being considered for an additional 90 days.

Depending on the number of applicants, Transport Canada’s needs or HR plans, volume management strategies (for example, random selection, invoking one or more assets, top-down approach) may be used for the purpose of managing applications/candidates.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to establish a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates, to be used by Transport Canada to staff this position or similar positions with various linguistic profiles, various security profiles and various tenures, across Canada.

There is an immediate need to fill one or more indeterminate positions.

Education
ED: Successful completion of secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification
OC1: Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License - Aeroplane Category with a Group 1 Instrument Rating that meets all applicable currency requirements to be able to exercise the privileges of the licence, including:
• Possession of a valid Aviation Document Booklet
• Possession of a valid Category 1 Aviation Medical

Experience
EX1: Experience as pilot in command of multi-engine turbine or turbojet powered aircraft of a Maximum Certified Takeoff Gross Weight of 75,000 pounds or greater operating under Subpart 705 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations or Canadian military equivalent.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Education:
AED1: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a specialization in aeronautical, mechanical or electrical engineering or computer sciences.
AED2: Post-secondary education in an aviation or related program to the position.
AED3: IATPL program completion

Degree equivalency

Asset Occupational Certification:
Holds or has held one or more of the following:
• AOC1: DH8-400
• AOC2: EMB 170/190
• AOC3: CRJ
• AOC4: B737NG or B-737Max or B757 or B767 or B777 or B787
• AOC5: Airbus A220 or A310 or A320 or A330 or A340

Asset Experience:
AEX1: Experience as a training pilot.
AEX2: Experience as a pilot-in-command (PIC) in global operations including Trans-oceanic.
AEX3: Experience as a PIC of multi-engine turbojet aircraft of a Maximum certified Takeoff Gross Weight of 135,000 pounds or greater.
AEX4: Experience as an Air Carrier Inspector.
AEX5: Experience as an Approved Check Pilot under Part 705 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
AEX6: Minimum of 3 years of experience acquired within the last 6 years, as a pilot with a Canadian Air Operator or equivalent or in the Canadian Military.
AEX7: Experience in flight training devices (FSTD) certification
AEX8: Experience in flight operation management of a CAR Part 705 operator

K1: Knowledge of Canadian Civil Aviation legislation such as the Aeronautics Act, Canadian Aviation Regulations and associated standards.
K2: Knowledge of risk management techniques.
K3: Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
K4: Knowledge of operational requirements and flight performance of a variety of large aeroplane types including current navigation systems, flight management systems and instrument flight guidance systems.

Candidates must meet and maintain the conditions of employment throughout their employment.

◦ What is an inventory?
An inventory is a bank of applications. If your application is accepted (registered in inventory), it is available to be considered by a hiring manager, when there is a need to fill a position (please refer to the section of this advertisement entitled “Intent of the process”). Depending on the situation, some or all accepted applications may be pulled for additional assessment. In that case, we will contact you.

◦ What does "Registered in the inventory" mean?
Once your application has been successfully submitted to the inventory, your status may be: "Date of disclosure of results: Listed in the inventory". This automatically generated message by the system means that your application can be considered. You will be informed in the event that your application is considered as part of a process generated from this inventory.

◦ What happens if my application expires?
Your application will be kept in the inventory for 180 days. A notice will be posted in the "My Job File" menu of your account 30 days before your application expires. If you do not take any action, your application will be deactivated and it will no longer be considered. In the event that your application expires during the effective period of this inventory, a notice will be posted in your account. If you wish to reactivate your application, select the "Renewal of my application" link.

◦ My personal information has changed, what should I do?
Simply update your information in the "Personal Information" section in the "My Job File" menu of your account. This will allow us to have your current contact information and ensure adequate follow-up in the event that your application is considered as part of this inventory.

◦ What is the retest period?
The retest period for re-assessment within the context of this inventory is 6 months from the date of elimination from the process. Candidates who resubmit an application to this inventory process before the retest period has elapsed will not be considered.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
