A covering letter in 5,000 words (maximum). It is your responsibility as a candidate to submit a cover letter, which clearly outlines how you meet each of the screening qualifications (i.e. Education and Experience Qualifications, both Essential and Assets) as well as a CV which is linked to the information in your cover letter. Please note that it is not sufficient to only state the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Candidates must use the experience factors as headers and then clearly demonstrate with concrete examples in their cover letter how they meet the education and experience factors listed in the essential and asset qualifications. Resumes may be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described in the cover letter. Your cover letter will also be used to assess your ability to communicate in writing. Failure to provide an appropriate cover letter will result in your application being rejected from the process. Asset qualifications may be used at the pre-screening stage.Also note that the ability to communicate effectively in writing will be assessed using your answers in the screening question.
Reference checks will be conducted for candidates who pass the interview stage once screened in.
You must meet all essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. Asset qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. The immediate intention of this process is to staff five (5) positions with varying tenures.
A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions at Elections Canada with varying tenures (such as indeterminate, specified period, acting, deployment, assignment and secondment) and various bilingual linguistic profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC).

EDUCATION
- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Notes:
- Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
- At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
