Assessment accommodation

At Indigenous Services Canada, we work in collaboration with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. Our vision is to support and empower indigenous communities so that they can independently provide services and address the different socio-economic conditions in their communities.

The First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) supports the delivery of public health and health promotion services on-reserve and in Inuit communities. It also provides drug, dental and ancillary health services to First Nations and Inuit, regardless of residence. The Branch also provides primary health care on reserves in remote and isolated areas where provincial services are not readily available. FNIHB works closely with First Nations and Inuit organizations and communities to carry out many activities to help individuals stay healthy and prevent chronic and infectious diseases.

Duties

Manage an organizational unit or function related to the development or execution of one or more programs.
Lead project teams or working groups.
Set goals and priorities and manage human, financial and physical resources.
Evaluate the performance.
Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Negotiate and manage contracts or service agreements.
Provide council and strategic recommendations to high management pertaining to health matters.
Elaborate partnerships with the First Nations and Inuit communities.

At the time this job opportunity was published, Indigenous Services Canada employees had not yet returned to their workplace due to the context of COVID-19. Therefore, the successful candidates may have to work remotely until further notice. The official workplace for these positions is located in Montreal. Depending on the needs and requirements of the service, the possibility of a telework arrangement could be considered. The request will be assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Directive on Telework.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to management on program issues.
Experience in program management and/or team supervision.
Experience in developing partnerships and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in managing multiple priorities in a high pressure environment with competing demands.
Experience in providing health advice and/or advice to First Nations and Inuit communities.
