In Canada, providing statistics is a federal responsibility and Statistics Canada serves this function for the whole of Canada and each of the provinces and territories. Data compiled by the Agency provides a wealth of statistical information that is used by federal, provincial and municipal governments, academe, and the business, industrial, financial, health, education and other sectors to make evidence-based decisions. Data is also used by the public at large, the media and a wide variety of international stakeholders.
Within this dynamic landscape, Agency IT infrastructure, architecture and services must continuously evolve and modernize to meet the rapidly changing environment and to remain relevant to the stakeholders served. This evolution must take place while maintaining the more than 700 applications and related architecture and infrastructure that supports existing survey activity.
Within this context, the Chief Technology Officer/Director, Enterprise Architecture and Strategy is accountable for playing a pivotal role in the modernization and standardization of Statistics Canada’s enterprise architectures. The incumbent will be accountable for establishing the Agency’s digital strategy. which will be aligned with, and support, business partner objectives as well as Agency-wide modernization initiatives.
This process may be used to establish a pool of fully/partially qualified candidates in order to staff, within Statistics Canada or in other government departments and organizations, identical or similar positions and whose duration of function varies.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
Experience
EXP1 Recent** and significant* experience as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) OR leading the Enterprise Architecture function in a large, complex organization.
EXP2 Significant* experience managing human and financial resources.
EXP3 Recent** and significant* experience establishing, managing and maintaining strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to advance business priorities.
EXP4 Recent** experience providing strategic advice to Senior Management in relation to: IT/Digital strategies, enterprise-wide technology adoption, investment decision-making or enterprise architecture.
Definitions:
* Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of the experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities which are normally acquired over a period of three (3) years
** Recent experience refers to experience normally acquired within the last five (5) years
