The intent of this selection process is to staff 2 indeterminate positions. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions with various language requirements, tenures and security requirements within Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
EXPERIENCE
STREAM 1: Manager, Maintenance Management
• Significant* experience in the development of maintenance plans (identify equipment; define equipment criticality; perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis; specify maintenance actions; develop maintenance schedule) for assets such as large vessels or complex electro/mechanical systems or complex electronic communication systems.
STREAM 2: Manager, Engineering
• Significant* experience in leading both the production and evaluation of engineering studies and reports.
• Significant* experience managing technical projects.
STREAM 1 & 2:
• Experience in providing strategic advice and recommending options to senior management on complex** issues in both written and oral briefings.
• Experience on establishing and maintaining consultative networks and relationships in with various stakeholders to advance business priorities and objectives.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience in project management
*Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities, which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years within the last five (5) years.
** Complex is defined as either technically complex or projects involving multiple stakeholders and governance oversight.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
STREAM 1: Manager, Maintenance Management
• Recognized certification in one or more of the following fields of Condition Based Maintenance: Vibration Analysis, Lubrication Oil Analysis, Infrared Thermography.
• Experience in the development of procurement specification for the development of maintenance programs for large complex assets.
• Experience in the management of change involving the requirement to modify the approach to maintenance management or experience in leading an organization through a significant period of change**.
** Significant period of change is defined as 2 years of continuous experience.
STREAM 2: Manager, Engineering
• Experience in the provision of informatics engineering services related to the design, acquisition, installation and maintenance of information and/or communications systems in a marine environment, and/or Aids to Navigation
• Experience applying Canadian and International rules and regulations pertaining to the design, construction and operation of communication system in a marine environment.
STREAM 1 & 2
• Experience in managing human and financial resources.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
