The intent of the process is to staff 1 term position for the duration of 1 year, with the possibility of extension. A pool of qualified or partially assessed candidates may be established. It may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level, such as: various language requirements; in various locations; with various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) within Environment and Climate Change Canada across Canada.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note:
1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
- Experience in the engagement and consultation of Indigenous peoples and groups that represent such people.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with governmental and/or non-governmental organizations in order to achieve the objectives of a program.
- Experience in developing materials to support Indigenous consultations or activities.
- Experience in effectively communicating science and technical concepts orally and in writing.
Asset Qualifications
Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in biology, natural resources management, or Indigenous studies.
Experience:
- Experience leading the development of scientific and technical advice and briefing materials for senior management.
- Experience in leading, participating in or representing a program on departmental, interdepartmental or intergovernmental fora.
- Experience in providing advice on or developing agreements with Indigenous peoples.
- Experience in providing input to Environmental Assessment processes.
- Experience in supervising students or staff.

Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the rights of Indigenous peoples in Canada and the duties of the Crown concerning such rights.
- Knowledge of current federal priorities to address environmental issues affecting Indigenous peoples in Canada.
- Knowledge of key federal environmental protection legislation such as the Impact Assessment Act, Canadian Environmental Protection Act (1999), or the Fisheries Act.
