Duties

Provision of materiel management services in the areas of warehouse logistics, distribution, inventory and disposal of materiel for the Correctional Service of Canada's National Depot.

Work environment

The positions to be staffed work for and report to the Correctional Service of Canada's National Depot, which provides storage, distribution and inventory services to all correctional institutions across the country; making them unique in CSC's materiel management organization.

Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff indeterminately, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within the Correctional Service of Canada. EDUCATION

EED1: Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

For both GS-ST-04 and GS-STS-05 positions:

EEX1: Minimum of six months’ experience in managing warehousing and distribution via commercial carriers.
EEX2: Minimum of six months’ (GS-STS-04) or more than six months’ (GS-STS-05) experience in supervising and training inmates in a work environment.

KNOWLEDGE

For both GS-STS-04 and GS-STS-05 positions:

EK1: Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.
EK2: Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations.
EK3: Knowledge of standards governing workplace health and safety (sections I to V) in the “Materials Handling” part of the Canada Occupational Health.

ABILITIES

For both GS-ST-04 and GS-STS-05 positions:

EA1: Ability to plan and organize work.
EA2: Ability to supervise, evaluate and motivate inmate employees.
EA3: Ability to maintain an up-to-date inventory.
EA4: Ability to communicate effectively orally.
EA5: Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

For GS-STS-04 positions only:

EA6: Ability to lead, evaluate and engage staff.
