Important messages

We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

The first round of candidate selection from this selection process should be completed around mid-June.

By responding to screening questions, candidates must clearly explain in detail how they meet the essential and asset experience qualifications by indicating HOW (clearly explain your duties), WHEN and for HOW LONG (date and length of time in months or years), and WHERE (employer and geographic location) this experience was acquired. A person may be appointed to the position without meeting any or all of the asset qualifications; however, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Failure to provide the information as instructed will result in your application being rejected. You will not be solicited for incomplete or missing information.

Applicants are also asked to provide the names and contact information for three (3) references. One must be from a recent employer in a supervisory position.

Work environment

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) Enforcement Branch (EB) ensures that companies and individuals comply with the laws administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada to protect the natural environment, its biodiversity and the health of Canadians. These laws aim to reduce damage and threats to the environment, its ecosystems and biodiversity for the benefit of all Canadians and international community.

The offices are located in downtown Montreal and in the eastern part of La Cité-Limoilou in Quebec City. The chosen candidate will play a key role in assisting the management team and the enforcement officers of the Environmental enforcement directorate in the execution of administrative tasks related to the organization’s mandate.

Individuals hired during the COVID-19 pandemic may have to work from home until it is possible to return to the workplace.

Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to staff administrative assistant positions at the AS-01 group and level within the Enforcement Branch and possibly in other branches of ECCC in Montreal or Québec City (Quebec). The job offers from this inventory will primarily be for permanent (indeterminate) full-time positions. Temporary positions may be considered.

Applicants will be selected from the inventory depending on the specified merit criteria they satisfy for evaluation purposes. A more in-depth assessment will follow, which may include a written exam, interview, reference check and/or second language evaluation.
