Assessment accommodation

This inventory may be used to staff positions located across Canada where Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada have locations. Please only select locations where you are able / interested in working.   When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

The intent of this process is, in part, to respond to the Clerk of the Privy Council’s Call to Action for leaders in the Public Service to appoint, sponsor, support and recruit Indigenous candidates to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce. This opportunity provides a step forward in creating a staff complement reflective of the peoples, communities, First Nations, Inuit and Métis partners we work with and for.

This inventory is targeted to First Nations, Inuit or Métis who will self-declare as such. For the purpose of staffing within the federal public service, the term Aboriginal is used, as per the Employment Equity Act, to define a North American Indigenous person as members of First Nations, Inuit or Métis. North American Indigenous people or members of First Nation include treaty, status or registered Indigenous people, as well as those non-status and non-registered. However, please note that the terms Aboriginal and Indigenous are used interchangeably within this job advertisement. Both terms include First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

The Self-declaration is completed as part of the job application under the “Employment Equity” tab and your affiliation as a member of First Nations, Inuit or Métis will be verified via an Affirmation of Indigenous Identity Form to be provided later in the staffing process.

¤ It is important that your education and experience are clearly outlined in your résumé.

¤ During the application process, you will be asked to provide a response to some questions in relation to your education and experience.

Other qualifications and operational requirements may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each screening qualification.

¤ During the application process you will be asked to identify the locations you are interested in working. It is important to only include those areas you would be willing to accept.
