Qualified candidates who are being appointed from outside the federal public service and who reside more than 40 kms from the work location will be provided with a sum of up to $5000 for relocation purposes. Relocation assistance in excess of $5000 may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties

The positions being staffed are responsible for providing administrative support to various units within the Yellowknife headquarters building. Some of the units include staffing and training, informatics, federal policing and criminal operations.

Yellowknife is classified as an Isolated Post. As such, the successful candidate must meet all the conditions under the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive prior to appointment. Important financial information:
• Successful candidates may be eligible for staff housing.
• Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) for Yellowknife ranges from approximately $10,761 to $24,866 which is based on if the employee has dependents.
• Vacation Travel Assistance is provided once a year for Yellowknife of approximately $1,032 for each eligible member of the household.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff future permanent and/or temporary vacancies within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Yellowknife, NT.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

- Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*

Degree equivalency

- Experience using word processing AND spreadsheet software programs.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

- Experience preparing documents such as letters, memoranda, briefing notes or reports.
- Experience in coordinating administrative activities including: responding to incoming and/or outgoing correspondence, typing, keyboarding, photocopying or filing.
- Experience entering data into a computerized system.
- Experience in accounting or finance.
- Experience maintaining a law enforcement database.
- Experience in providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data.
- Experience transcribing statements from audio cassettes or digital media.
- Experience in providing service to internal and/or external clients.
- Experience providing administrative support in a police environment.
- Experience in planning and coordinating training courses or programs for internal or external clients.
- Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.

- Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
- Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
