A Cabin Safety/Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Inspector performs a variety of duties during the course of their work.
Cabin Safety oversees commercial and private air operators to ensure operations are conducted safely and in accordance with the Aeronautics Act and the Canadian Aviation Regulations. Daily tasks can include conducting planned and reactive inspections to ensure compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations, evaluation of operator submissions, evaluate and recommend the issuance or denial of exemptions from the Canadian Aviation Regulations, and participate in working groups as required. Cabin Safety Inspectors also provide technical guidance on cabin safety regulations to other government departments, agencies, industry, and the general public.
Aviation Occupational Health and Safety oversees the compliance to the Canada Labour Code Part II, and to the Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, of air operators in respect to their onboard employees. This is achieved through industry outreach, inspections with air operators, and includes investigations of workplace injuries and fatalities.

* Acceptable combination is defined as successful completion of a secondary school education AND minimum three (3) years of experience as a flight attendant manager, cabin safety developer and/or instructor in safety and emergency procedures with a Canadian air operator.
Significant and recent experience* in at least one of the following areas for a Canadian Air Operator:
- Manager or Supervisor of flight attendants**
- Instructor of flight attendants in safety and emergency procedures
- Developer of an air operator’s flight attendant safety and emergency procedures
- Experience working with the Canada Labour Code Part II or the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (AOSHRS)
* Note: Significant defined as a minimum of accumulative three (3) years and recent defined as within 5 years.
**Note: Flight Attendant Incharge experience is not equivalent supervisory experience.

Experience as a qualified crew member on a transport category aeroplane flying international routes.
Experience working with a foreign air operator.
Experience on Occupational Health and Safety Committees or as an Occupational Health and Safety Representative, working with the Canada Labour Code Part II.
Experience conducting hazardous occurrence investigations.
Experience in conducting audits or evaluations of compliance.
Experience in managing projects.
Experience in conducting training and information briefings.
Experience in developing or evaluating Management Systems.
Experience in applying risk management concepts and principles.
Experience in using a computer for word processing, email and internet.

Secret security clearance
Possession of a valid provincial motor vehicle driver’s license.
Possess a valid Canadian Passport.
Willing and able to travel extensively and independently via all modes of transportation.
