Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some employees of Indigenous Services Canada are currently working remotely. The department is actively working on a flexible, phased approach for the safe return of employees to their usual workspaces. Therefore, this opportunity may initially be a remote working opportunity. When it is deemed safe to return to the workplace, the opportunity will be in an Indigenous Services Canada office located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements (English Essential or Bilingual Imperative), various security requirements, various conditions of employment as well as various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) within Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada.

EDUCATION :
Graduation with a degree from a recognized postsecondary institution with an acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education, or some other specialty relevant to the position.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION :
Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada.
EXPERIENCE :
• Experience providing health related advice and recommendations to First Nations regarding health programs.
• Experience developing partnerships with First Nations or health service leaders.
• Recent* and significant** experience in community health nursing providing home care, primary care or public health.
• Recent* and significant** experience in health programs management and administration.
• Experience in effective mentoring and coaching.
Recent* is defined as within the last five (5) years.
Significant** is defined as a minimum of two (2) years experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.

• Experience in health programming, implementation and evaluation in First Nation communities
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
• Occasional requirement to work overtime.
• Occasional requirement for overnight travel.
• Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off-road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas, as required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
• Reliability Security Clearance
• Medical Clearance
• Possession of a valid driver’s licence or the personal mobility to the degree associated with the possession of a valid driver’s licence
• Availability for regional and inter-provincial travel is required. Incumbents may be required to travel by vehicle or small fixed wing aircraft, and occasionally into remote northern locations
• Availability for flexible or irregular work hours
• Overtime in the event of a Public Health emergency or outbreak
• Continuous professional registration in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba
