Shared Services Canada is modernizing how the Government of Canada manages its information technology (IT) infrastructure. The Department is mandated to deliver email, data centre and telecommunication services, including videoconferencing and Wi-Fi, to partner organizations.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar positions with various security profiles, various linguistic profile and various tenures within Shared Services Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.

3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE FOR STREAM 1: TEAM LEADER AND STREAM 2: TECHNICAL ADVISOR

EX1: Recent* experience in the generation, presentation or maintenance of reports, technical documentation or presentations.

EX2: Experience advising managers, colleagues and/or clients regarding IT issues or IT incidents.

EX3: Recent* experience in delivering client service and maintaining and nurturing internal and/or external partnerships.

EXPERIENCE FOR STREAM 2: TECHNICAL ADVISOR

EX4. Recent* and significant** experience working in information technology (IT) installing, configuring, and supporting web or COTS middleware applications on UNIX/Linux environments.

EX5. Recent* experience in troubleshooting methodologies and resolving technical issues in the field of IT on UNIX/Linux environments.

*Recent is defined as experience normally gained within the last five(5) years.
** significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of duties and having performed those duties on a regular and continuous basis for a period of two (2) years.

C1. Project Management Certification (PMP or Prince 2) certification.

ASSET - EXPERIENCE

AEX1. Experience in coordinating client-focused initiatives and providing consultative solutions to the client and presenting solutions at executive levels (Director and above).

AEX2. Experience in leading IT enabled project activities such as plans, costs, schedules, risks and issues.

AEX3. Experience in IT projects such as coordinating meetings and/ or providing support as a Subject Matter Expert or a stakeholder.

AEX4. Experience in supervising teams, including the planning, coordination and assessment of the work performed by employees and/or contractors.

AEX5. Recent* experience with any of the following technologies: Apache, Weblogic, Java, Wildfly (Jboss), Linux, or shell scripting.

AEX6. Recent* experience with current IM/IT trends within industry and the Government of Canada (cloud, artificial intelligence, open source software or data mining).
