ACOA is looking for assistant economic development officers and economic development officers to join our team. If you are motivated and interested in an exciting opportunity for growth in a dynamic department, please apply.
As an assistant economic development officer or economic development officer, you will be encouraged to connect with people, build relationships, and develop collaborative approaches to addressing challenges or opportunities related to economic development in Atlantic Canada. You will be given the opportunity to think independently to plan, develop, implement and assess projects within a team in order to support the priorities of the department.
ACOA works to develop and diversify the economy of Atlantic Canada by delivering grants and contributions programs and advocating on behalf of the Atlantic region.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR STREAM 1 - Assistant Economic Development (CO-01):
EX1 - Supporting the evaluation of proposals and applications for funding or business plans;
EX2 - Managing projects against a workplan;
EX3 - Maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance initiatives or projects; and
EX4 - Providing strategic advice and recommendations to management.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR STREAM 2 - Economic Development Officer (CO-02):
EX1 - Evaluation of proposals and applications for funding or business plans;
EX2 - Conducting financial analysis to evaluate sustainability of organizations;
EX3 - Negotiating project agreements/contracts and monitoring progress against agreements throughout the lifecycle of a project;
EX4 - Developing and sustaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance initiatives or projects; and
EX5 - Providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.

Essential Qualifications: Identifies what you must possess in order to be qualified for the job.
EDUCATION:
ED1:Graduation with a degree from a recognized university
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students within one year of obtaining their degree will be considered. You must provide the program and the date of obtaining your degree.
COMPETENCIES:
C1 - Demonstrating integrity/respect – Demonstrating strong ethical behaviour in personal and organizational practices while respecting democratic, professional and people values.
C2 - Strategic thinking - Understanding and processing complex information and exercising sound judgment, considering the situation, the issues, the key players, and levels of authority involved. Proposing a course of action that furthers the objectives, priorities and vision of the organization.
C3 – Adaptability - Adapting in order to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations, and with diverse individuals
C4 – Communication (Oral and Written) - Using language as a flexible tool to share and collect information, to exchange ideas and to openly explore a variety of perspectives, adjusting style and content to each unique individual, audience and circumstance.

ASSET EDUCATION:
AED1 - Graduation with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
AED2 - A recognized professional accounting designation.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEX1 - Experience in development and/or implementation of projects that support the economic inclusion of underrepresented groups.
AEX2 - Experience working with First Nation Communities.
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS – varies depending on the position and as required:
