It is your responsibility to provide clear and concrete examples in your responses to each question. Plans and performs engineering analyses, investigative and evaluation activities, and verifications required by internal customers.
Serves as project Software and Embedded Systems Engineer on assigned projects and supports the Technical Manager by coordinating the work of the contractors on specific aspects of the system under development and/or operation.
Drafts, maintains, and co-ordinates sub-system requirements; provides advice to assess architectures and concepts in order to meet these requirements.
Performs the review of designs through the review of contractor documentation, including design specifications, plans, engineering analyses.
Reviews schedules and cost estimates; identifies technical risks and proposes contingency plans.
Monitors the verification, testing and integration processes and activities performed by the contractor. When required, actively participates in such activities, performs review of the results, contributes to technical problem resolution activities and proposes solutions.
Participates in software and embedded systems development and/or integration activities such as architecture development, design, analysis, simulation and implementation.
Attends and participates in multilateral programmatic and technical meetings and forums, providing technical insight and reporting significant recommendations.
Occasionally provides training to CSA employees and contractors.
Reviews new knowledge and developments in software and embedded systems engineering including new technology development through the review of technical literature. Analyzes current and long-term trends and opportunities to formulate recommendations.

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in engineering: mechanical, electrical, aeronautical, software, computer, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position to be staffed.
A "recognized university" is a Canadian university that has provincial or territorial degree-granting status, or a university outside of Canada, the programs/degrees of which are accepted by a recognized Canadian university. EDUCATION
• Post-graduate degree from a recognized university in an engineering discipline relevant to the duties of the position to be staffed, such as but not limited to: Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Software.

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in a particular type of Spaceflight Mission (Communications, Earth Observation, Human spaceflight, Planetary, Astronomy, Science, etc.) directly relevant to the duties of the position.
• Experience with autonomous** robotic systems.
• Experience working with systems required to operate in harsh environments.
• Experience acquired within the last five (5) years in designing and coding embedded software applications, including software produced related to distributed systems.
• Experience in producing statements of work, specification and verification of deliverables from contractors or industry.
**Here, « Autonomous » means medium to high complexity robotic systems that can operate for long periods with minimal human intervention

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of theories and practices of at least one of the following: development, verification, validation and operation of aerospace, defense, robotics, or other complex embedded systems software.
• Knowledge in theory and applications of Artificial Intelligence computing, such as (but not limited to) neural networks, machine learning and deep learning.
