Duties

RE-05:

The Principal Analyst, Risk & Data Analytics will play an important role within the Advanced Analytics team at OSFI. This position will provide technical expertise and operational support to OSFI’s data science function. Leveraging a mix analytics, math and modeling skillsets, and in collaboration with key stakeholder across the organization, the Principal Analyst will:

● Consult with staff in other divisions to understand their business cases and data analytic needs, perform requirements analysis, and advise on best model/solution for the business problem
● Design, and develop advanced analytics and machine learning tools to derive business insights from data and information
● Facilitate UAT and final solution delivery to stakeholders.
● Collaborate with IM/IT and Data Management and Data Engineering teams to deliver advanced analytics solutions
● Conduct research and evaluation of new analytical tools and methodologies.
● Provide status updates, presentations, recommendations and respond to enquiries from division management.

RE-06:

The Manager, Risk & Data Analytics will play an important role within the Advanced Analytics team at OSFI. Reporting directly to the Director of Risk & Data Analytics, this position will provide technical expertise and operational support to OSFI’s data science function. Managing a team of advanced analytics experts, and in partnership with key stakeholders across the organization, the Manager will:

● Consult with staff in other divisions to understand their business cases and data analytic needs, perform requirements analysis, and advise on best model/solution for the business problem
● Lead, design, and develop advanced analytics and machine learning tools to derive business insights from data and information
● Facilitate UAT and final solution delivery to stakeholders.
● Collaborate with IM/IT and Data Management and Data Engineering teams to deliver advanced analytics solutions
● Conduct research and evaluation of new analytical tools and methodologies.
● Provide status updates, presentations, recommendations and respond to enquiries from division management.
● Manage and set expectations for a team of highly technical individuals that build advanced data analytics.

- A degree from a post-secondary institution specializing in business, commerce, economics, statistics, mathematics, data analytics, computer science, engineering or another relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
RE-05 and RE-06:
- Recent* and significant** experience working with modern data management and data analytics tools.
- Recent* and significant** experience building and deploying advanced analytics & data science models and applications.
- Recent* and significant** experience using a scripting language such as Python or R.

RE-06 only:
-Recent* and significant** experience in coaching, managing and/or leading teams of people directly or indirectly.

RE-05 and RE-06:
*Recent refers to relevant experience acquired in the past two (2) years.
RE-05 only:
**Significant is defined in terms of both depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired by performing the tasks continuously over a minimum period of three (3) or more years.

As a Separate Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) appoints employees in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). OSFI is named in Schedule V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and it offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core Federal Public Service. In addition to this, OSFI employees obtain a minimum of 4 weeks of vacation leave per year, earn a competitive salary, and are eligible for an annual performance bonus.
