Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in commerce, economics, natural resources management, public administration, environmental studies, biology or other specialization relevant to the position; OR and acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the duties of the position.
*Recent and significant experience in planning, developing, coordinating and directing the implementation of fisheries management programs and Fisheries Management Plans.
Recent and significant experience in establishing and maintaining working relationships or communication linkages with First Nations, recreational and commercial harvesters, other stakeholders, Federal and Provincial or Territorial Government agencies, International agencies, or other interest groups.
Recent and significant experience in resolving issues, conflicts and crisis by mediating and arbitrating disputes among numerous competing commercial fishers, recreational fishers, aboriginal fishers or environmentalists.
Recent and significant experience in developing and reviewing fishery strategies and interpreting policies in order to brief and advise senior managers on appropriate courses of action.

Knowledge of Fisheries-related legislation and departmental policies with respect to Commercial, Sport and Aboriginal fisheries.
Knowledge of the management, biology and economics of fisheries.
Knowledge of Aboriginal groups and their recent history in British Columbia in relation to socio-economic and legal situations.

Extensive experience (4 years or greater, or multiple fisheries management plans) in planning, developing, coordinating and directing the implementation of fisheries management programs.
Experience in managing Roe Herring Fisheries.
Experience in managing Salmon Fisheries.
Experience in managing First Nations Fisheries.
Experience in managing Invertebrate Fisheries.
Experience in undertaking consultation meetings with fishing sector client groups.
Experience managing human resources in a work environment.
Experience managing financial resources in a work environment.
Knowledge of Fisheries-related legislation and departmental policies with respect to Pacific Region Commercial, Sport and Aboriginal fisheries.
Knowledge of the Pacific Salmon Treaty.
Knowledge of the current advisory processes for commercial, recreational and First Nation Fisheries in the Pacific Region.
Knowledge of commercial salmon management techniques.
Knowledge of commercial invertebrate fisheries.
Knowledge of the key issues impacting the management of fisheries resources in commercial, recreational, and Indigenous Fisheries.
Reliability Status security clearance
Valid BC Class 5 driver's license.
Willingness to travel.
Must be willing to work weekends and overtime.
Willingness to work diverse hours on short notice.
May be required to travel in and work from boats.
Ability to work remotely if required.
