Intent of the process

This process will be used to establish a pool of candidates that may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various official language proficiencies (English or French essential and Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB and CBC/CBC; and various tenures (Indeterminate, Temporary) using various staffing mechanisms and in various locations within Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, communication, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

Notes:
1. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed, may serve as an alternative to meet the minimum education standard. Whenever the minimum education standard is met through this alternative, it is met only for the position being staffed, and candidates must be re-assessed for future appointments or deployments where the manager has decided to use this alternative.

The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

2. For those persons who are presently employed in the public service of Canada, please note that indeterminate incumbents of positions in the PE group on October 1, 1999, who do not possess the education level prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard.

And

One hundred and sixty (160) hours of acceptable training in informal conflict management studies from a recognized alternative dispute resolution training institution. Training must include at least forty (40) hours of mediation training. (Documented proof must be provided).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
EX1. Significant experience* in providing informal conflict management services in a workplace setting, including all of the following: conflict coaching, mediation/facilitated discussions, and group interventions as a third party neutral.
EX2. Experience in providing in-depth expert support to managers and employees in complex conflict management situations.
EX3. Experience in leading a cross-functional working group or project involving multiple stakeholders.
EX4. Experience in developing and delivering presentations and training materials related to conflict management.

* Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a period of approximately two (2) years. However, a shorter duration may be considered based on demonstrated complexity and diversity of work handled, scope of work, and/or level of direct responsibility for a wide variety of complex files and/or projects.
