Fisheries and Oceans Canada is responsible for policies and programs in support of Canada's economic, ecological and scientific interests in oceans and inland waters; for the conservation and sustainable utilization of Canada's fisheries resources in marine and inland waters; for leading and facilitating federal policies and programs on oceans; and for safe, effective and environmentally sound marine services responsive to the needs of Canadians in a global economy.
This is a full-time indeterminate position. The anticipated number of position(s) that may be staffed with this advertised process is one (1) EG06 in Sarnia, ON; however, a pool of qualified candidates will be established through this staffing process and may be used to staff EG05 and EG06 positions, as well as similar positions of various groups and tenures (i.e. on a term, acting or an indeterminate basis) in other locations.

Successful completion of approved post-secondary education in an Engineering, Construction, Architectural Technician field or Property Management program or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EG05 and EG 06:
(Significant*) experience in managing major contracts** including construction or significant repair/works management through the public or private sector. Should include technical preparation of specifications and statements of work.
(Significant*) experience in developing scope of work and contracting for services related to construction, engineering, architecture, or property management.
Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment related to construction or maintenance of infrastructure. Candidate must have been responsible for at least 2 of the following (construction monitoring, scheduling, review of submissions against contract documents, reporting on progress and financial monitoring, seeking and evaluating proposals and bids, coordinating with contractors and consultants).
*Significant experience would be at least 2 years.

** Major contracts would include those contracts valued at 100,000 dollars or more and with several distinct elements (i.e. construction of a facility and its various systems).

EG05 and EG 06:
Formal training or certification in Project Management.
EG05 and EG06:
Experience working with AutoCAD.
Experience supporting projects for life cycle management of Real Property assets.
Experience in the design, construction, rehabilitation, repair, or maintenance of buildings, structures, or other real property infrastructure, or experience in a field which would contribute to the conduct of these activities.
Experience in the inspection of real property infrastructure.
Reliability Status security clearance
Willingness to travel and work overtime, including travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation (e.g. small and large aircraft, all-terrain vehicles, boats, helicopter, etc.).
Possession of a valid unrestricted driver's license.
Willingness and ability to climb towers and work at heights in excess of 2.4m.
Ability to work remotely with little direct supervision.
