The intent is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis located in Gatineau, Qc with the Audit and Evaluation sector at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC). If you are found qualified and opportunities become available, you could be considered to staff similar or identical positions at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada with various locations, linguistic profiles, requirement as well as tenures and/or the security clearance, which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
A degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution** with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, economics or some other specialty relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
*The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
**A public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
EXPERIENCE:
Significant* and recent** experience in conducting all phases of internal audit engagements (i.e. planning, conducting, reporting). Internal audit engagements must meet the definition used by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Significant* and recent** experience in providing strategic advice both orally and in writing to senior management (Director level and above).
Significant* and recent** experience in providing supervisory review of audit deliverables.
Significant* experience in analyzing audit related information and concluding on the results of the analysis.
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
*Significant is defined as a period of at least two (2) years.
**Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the Treasury Board Policy on Internal Audit and Directive on Internal Audit.
Knowledge of Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) Standards.
ABILITIES:

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
(Not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess asset qualifications)
EDUCATION:
A recognized professional accounting designation (i.e. CMA, CGA, CA, CPA).
A recognized internal audit certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA).
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working on Indigenous issues.
Experience conducting internal audits of federal government departments.
Experience supervising the work of consultants.
Experience supporting the development of a Risk-Based Audit Plan.
Experience conducting follow-ups for the implementation of management action plans.
Experience conducting advisory work.
CURRENT AND/OR FUTURE ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
