The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DNDs role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an important part of the Defence Team.
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) vacancy immediately. A pool of candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions with various language and security requirements.

Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position.
Or
An acceptable combination of educations, training and/or experience.
Notes:
Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

Information on language requirements
Experience:
• Experience in at least one of the following areas:
I. Experience developing and supporting IT applications.
II. Experience developing and maintaining web applications written with ASP.NET or other popular web development frameworks.
III. Experience deploying, configuring and administrating databases such as SQL Servers.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of computer programming using current IM/IT trends/practices or technology infrastructure components employed in the delivery of IM/IT services within a government organization.
• Knowledge of at least one of the following items:
a) SQL Databases (SQL Server or PostgreSQL)
b) SharePoint Administration
c) Scripting (Windows Batch, PowerShell, etc.)
d) Web development programming
e) Troubleshooting networking issues on government networks
Competencies:

Ability:
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Experience:
• Experience with SharePoint Server administration
• Experience with SQL database operations and maintenance
• Experience developing and supporting IT applications
• Experience programming web applications
• Recent experience providing technical recommendations and solutions
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Microsoft enterprise software such as Active Directory services
• Knowledge and experience of general information systems
• Knowledge of JavaScript and Windows PowerShell scripting
• Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows Server, Redhat Linux)
